Sarah flying a kite on a cloudy day

Sarah Sernaker

I am a data engineer with the Cornell Wildlife Health Lab, supporting wildlife disease surveillance and research through data systems and analytical tools. I collaborate with wildlife agencies and organizations to streamline data collections into a centralized warehouse for chronic wasting disease (CWD), ensuring accurate, up-to-date information is readily available for research and decision-making. I also implement statistical models and data science techniques to understand wildlife populations better and inform effective management and disease response strategies.

I hold an M.S. in Statistics and a B.S. in Mathematics, with extensive experience in data wrangling and analyses across various domains. I’m especially interested in effective technical communication, data visualizations, database architecture, data collection processes, and the practical challenges of real-world data.

My goal is to make data more accessible and actionable for wildlife agencies!
