Avian Haven bald eagle case reports 2012-2019. Freedom, Maine [Dataset].

This data constitutes records in their raw form that describe patient visits and necropsies on bald eagles by veterinary professionals, rehabilitators, and/or pathologists at Avian Haven Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center in Freedom, Maine. Avian Haven tested the Pb-level in blood using the Lead Care system, and the instrument readout is in ug/dl reported to one decimal point. This instrument did not report levels over 65 µg/dl. In that time, it was Avian Haven’s protocol to test every eagle other than nestlings. Avian Haven reported the age in years up to full adult (5 yr. or older), which was judged based on plumage. The data was shared with the Cornell Wildlife Health Lab at Cornell University for the purpose of the regional “lead in bald eagle” project. Professionals at the source facility have given written permission for this data to be posted to this persistent eCommons repository alongside the other project data.
